Granite Resources, Inc. has recently introduced FRACT.AG, a highly expansive mortar. The expanding mortar, used to split dimensional stone, demolishes and cuts rocks and concrete. FRACT.AG swells when poured into a hole and develops a pressure higher than
8000 t/sq.m on the hole walls, thereby breaking them open. It is non-explosive and environmentally friendly.
FRACT.AG is used for primary and secondary drilling applications. Its main benefits are elimination of blasting cracks to increase yield, savings on drilling costs as a result of increased spaces between drill holes, no specialized training or licenses required by quarry personnel, and quiet, safe and equal pressure exerted in the hole, which eliminates scooping with dressing blocks, according to the company.
FRACT.AG is also used in demolition applications in confined areas.
