The International Tile & Stone Show debuted at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, NV, from October 24 to 27. The exhibition was conceived specifically for the stone and ceramic tile industries, with emphasis placed on the West Coast market.
Welcoming a show on the West Coast, those exhibiting were optimistic about the exhibition's success. Not only were exhibitors and attendees pleased with the favorable location, but manufactures of stone products, machinery and accessories, and installation and maintenance products believed that the show provided an opportunity to conduct business with fabricators, distributors and those in the design community, who don't travel out to exhibitions on the East Coast.
While the exhibition hall was not entirely filled with displays, there was a fair amount of traffic. When walking through the aisles, demonstrations of large and hand-held machinery were often going on as well as presentations showing the benefits of stone main-tenance and cleaning products. Additionally, laser imaging equipment attracted quite a crowd.
Some exhibitors seemed very pleased with the results of the show, while others were indecisive. Many also said that attendance was what they expected given it was the first year for the exhibition. A second annual International Tile & Stone Show is scheduled from November 13 to 15, 2003.
