The new Quasar TECH automatic edge-polishing machine is manufactured by The Denver Co. of San Marino, Italy, and available in North America from Vic International of Knoxville, TN. The forerunner of this model was the standard Quasar, which can be currently be found in fabrication shops around the U.S., with some shops running as many as three units.
The Quasar TECH was engineered with rigid construction to withstand the rigors of long hours of use. Among the features of the system are a touch screen, the suspension of the C arm carriage, type of bearing used and other features to improve performance and reliability, according to the company.
The machine can process a wide variety of profile and flat edges, and it will even make the initial cut on an Ogee edge. Available options for the Quasar TECH include an optic reader that automatically measures the slab, slab alignment brackets, a manual turntable and an automatic tool changer.
