Medina Red sandstone (Brownstone) is once again available on today's market. Todd and Gemma Campbell, owners of Togemco Commercial and Residential Stone Inc., have purchased a 53-acre quarry site in Hulberton, NY, which had been dormant for almost 80 years. This material was used in many historic buildings that are now reaching a point where restoration is no longer a choice but a necessity, according to the producers.
Medina sandstone was used in the State Capitol Building in Albany, NY; Buffalo Psychiatric Hospital buildings; St. Louis RC Church on Main St. in downtown Buffalo; St. John's Episcopal Church in Port Gibson and Brownstone townhouses in Manhattan as well as much of the curbing, sidewalks and step material in Rochester, NY. Medina sandstone was even shipped to England and used in Buckingham Palace, reports Togemco Commercial and Residential Stone Inc.
