Located in the stone-rich state of Espirito Santo (ES), Brazil, Pemagran and PMG take full advantage of this position. The company operates quarries throughout the state, providing a full range of stone materials, which are processed at the main factory in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, ES.
The company was founded in 1979, and its board of directors include Cláudio Sandrini and Adriano Sandrini. Since its foundation, the firm has been continually upgrading its production methods to meet international demands. All of the blocks, slabs and tiles sold by the Pemagran Group are produced within ISO requirements.
Pemagran's eight quarries within Espirito Santo yield a combined 1,150 cubic meters of stone per month. These include gold and yellow varieties as well as darker shades (see “Pemagran quarry sites†page 62).
Stone is processed at a 54,000-square-foot plant in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, which sits on an overall industrial area of 540,000 square feet. Blocks are processed on a total of eight gangsaws, including three outside the company. The five gangsaws on Pemagran's premises are the Model G2 from Cimef, a Brazilian company, and they produce 150,000 square feet of material per month. Gangsawing outside the company results in another 150,000 square feet of slabs per month.
For slab polishing, the company relies on two lines from MGM. These include a 16-head unit purchased in 2000 and a 20-head machine purchased in 2002. These slab polishing lines produce 485,000 square feet of material per month.
Pemagran also has extensive tile production, with a full-scale tile line from Metafil, which produces 130,000 square feet of tiles per month. Additional equipment includes a bridge saw from Cimef, which was purchased in 2002, and a Rosh drying oven.
