Granite Mart Ltd. processes blocks at two factories in India, including one in Hyderabad and another in Bangalore.

Granite Mart is the flagship of a large industrial group managed by the Agarwal family that has business interests in tea, automobile tires and marble and granite, spread over five states of India. The company is positioned as a 100% Export Oriented Unit (EOU) in the stone sector, and it specializes in the manufacturing of granite slabs, tile, monuments, countertops and other architectural stonework.
According to the company, Granite Mart has been achieving “explosive growth” in sales, and its products are shipped to customers around the world. “Granite Mart catalyses the fusion of the West with the East, using technologically advanced stone-processing machinery from the West to bring out the splendor of Indian stone,” said Mudit Agarwal of Granite Mart.
The company’s state-of-the-art production facility is equipped with modern stone processing machinery. Included are nine jumbo gangsaws from Italy - seven from Giorgini Maggi and two from Barsanti - and an additional four jumbo Giorgini Maggi gangsaws are being installed. Slabs are polished on three polishing lines, which were brought in from Italy - one from Breton, one from Barsanti and one from Zambon. Additionally, the company is currently installing another 17-head automated polishing line from Breton and a 22-head polishing line with robotic loading and unloading. This robotic slab-polishing line, also from Breton, is for automated book-matching of slabs.
Other equipment includes three Pellegrini Diamond wire saws, 12 overhead cranes, an automatic flaming/bushhammering machine and six bridge saws. “The manufactured product is subjected to stringent quality control at every stage of process, ensuring dimensional accuracy and a mirror polish,” Agarwal said. “The company can also supply granite tiles and slabs with other types of surface finishes, such as flamed or honed.”
With the addition of new machinery, Granite Mart is confident that it will be able to process a larger amount of material with optimal speed and quality. “The company is undergoing massive expansion,” Agarwal said. “This will enhance the company’s production capacity four-fold, and it will be in a position to cater to customers in urgent need of material in large volume. Granite Mart has a dedicated Quality Control department, which inspects all the finished slabs for defects, before approving them for export.”
Granite Mart Limited has captive granite quarries in different regions of India to ensure an uninterrupted supply of rough granite blocks of the right quality, in various colors. “Qualified geologists select the granite blocks after inspecting them for flaws, and then dispatch them to the factories,” Agarwal explained. “A large stock of rough granite blocks is maintained at the factories for smooth production and prompt deliveries.”
Granite Mart and its associate companies have been exporting products over the last 14 years to high-end buyers in the U.S., Canada, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K., South Africa, Germany, France, Denmark, Portugal and the Netherlands. In addition to providing quality products, Granite Mart provides after-sales service through frequent visits to its customers. The company also maintains an international presence through participation in trade shows such as Coverings in the U.S., Marmomacc in Italy and Stone+tec in Germany.
