In designing a new Union Bank facility in Southern California, the architects at Area Architecture of Los Angeles selected Bianco Romano granite from Brazil, which has distinctive patterning and coloration. But despite the material’s unique qualities, the consistency of the stone imported for the project allowed for an efficient installation.
The stone was installed by JB Marble in Van Nuys, CA. According to Jacques Balava of JB Marble, the material was anchored to the building with brass wire. “It was a basic tie wire installation,” he said.
A total of four workers from JB Marble were on the job, and Balava said that the consistency of the material helped to simplify the project. “No sorting of the stone was needed,” he said. The stone is characterized by a unique coloration with black accents and patterning.
In all, it took a total of two months for JB Marble’s crew to complete the installation.
