SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA -- Mapei Group has recently completed the acquisition of all activities regarding adhesives and products for the building industry carried out by Henkel in South Korea under the Ceresit and Thomsit trademarks. The acquisition has been made through a new company, Mapei Korea, that now has head offices in Seoul and a production facility in Chungcheongbuk-do, which is approximately 62 miles from Seoul. This is the 58th plant of Mapei Group.
Mapei Korea will keep on producing under the trademark Ceresit and Thomsit products for a maximum of three years, that will be immediately joined by the wide product range of Mapei, reports the installation product manufacturer.
Through this acquisition, Mapei intends to strongly increase its presence in South Korea, one of the most technologically advanced countries on the global scene, and create a production base for the North Pacific zone. This expansion falls within the framework of an investment program for more than €200 million in the Asia-Pacific region, including Oceania, which Mapei recently deliberated, and which will be managed by the regional headquarters in Singapore, under the guidance of Marcel Smit, responsible for that geographical area.
