Cosmic has been in business for nearly 20 years in distribution of natural stones such as granite, marble, onyx and other materials. In addition, Cosmic added engineered stones (Silestone) and glass slabs. A new slab gallery has been added with exotic stones and semi-precious slabs for high-end designers/architects. This gallery is described as one-of-a-kind, and it attracts homeowners as well as fabricators and high-end interior decorators. The new showroom is being built to showcase the latest high-end tiles, and it is considered to be a “showpiece” for the City of New Brunswick.
New Brunswick Mayor Jim Cahill attended the Grand Opening, and he praised Cosmic’s President, Venkat Malladi, for creating jobs in the local area. “We are proud to have had you in our region for the past 20 years,” Cahill said. “This facility is outstanding. Cosmic Stone’s expansion is another example of the important role of New Brunswick’s Urban Enterprise Zone in helping our business community grow and thrive. With their expansion, Cosmic Stone is creating new, full-time jobs and expanding its business into retail sales, which will benefit from the Urban Enterprise Zone’s 3.5% sales tax incentive.”
The event was also attended by New Jersey Assembly General Speaker Upendra J. Chivukula, who cited Malladi’s confidence in the area and its future potential. “By timing its expansion with the recovery in the economy, Cosmic Stone & Tile will tap into the potential growth in the construction business and the home market, and bring in revenue and jobs for New Jersey,” Chivukula said. “I welcome the growth in our state’s local and small businesses, many of which compete globally in product quality and price competitiveness and are the building blocks for the reconstruction of our economy.”
