From now through September 2, more than 180,000 architects from all over the world will be invited to take part in the first edition of the Marmomacc Architecture and Design Competition. The goal of this program is to recognize the best applications of natural stone in design solutions in applications such as spas, wine bars, restaurants and shops. The initiative, implemented in collaboration with Archi-Europe, is part of Marmomacc’s determination to play a leading role in the promotion of culture and training activities in the marble sector.

The best nine ideas will receive awards during the 47th edition of Marmomacc in Verona, Italy, which takes place from September 26 to 29, 2012. For young architects, the event is a unique occasion for promoting their talent. The winners in each category will present their projects during a specific seminar, while the others will have the chance to display them during a specific exhibition. With the collaboration of Archi-Europe, the network is bringing together more than 72,000 European architecture studios.

Members of the Jury include Vincenzo Pavan, architecture consultant for Marmomacc; Marie-Claire Regniers, journalist specializing in design; and Jacques Allard, executive director of Archi-Europe. The contest is only one of many innovations planned for the 47th edition of Marmomacc, a trade event that brings together exhibitors and buyers from all over the world, while also promoting the culture of natural stone with initiatives, such as the Stone Academy for training sector professionals, including architects and engineers.
