This year’s challenge is to design a bathroom that addresses the needs of multi-generational users and exhibits excellence in design and creativity. Student designs can span commercial or residential interior design, and can focus on any category of design. Entries will be judged on the space’s functional design, aesthetic design, and creative use of Daltile’s newest product offerings.
The competition will be hosted on Daltile’s Facebook page to create a more engaging environment for students to participate in and spectators to watch. This will also allow the public to view the entries and comment on them. In fact, the ten Merit prize winners will be determined by popular vote on the Facebook page.
“We are thrilled to once again partner with The ASID Foundation in a joint effort to advance education and excellence in the interior design industry,” said Lori Kirk-Rolley, senior marketing director for Daltile. “This year’s competition raises the bar by asking students to provide a design solution to a common challenge. We’re also raising the profile of the competition by hosting it on our Facebook page, allowing architects, designers and the general public to see the work of these talented students.”
In the design competition, students are required to use at least one of Daltile’s newest product lines, including natural stone and slabs. Aside from this requirement, students may choose from Daltile’s entire product portfolio.
The Daltile Interior Design Scholarship, presented by the ASID foundation begins on September 1, 2012, and will run through October 28, 2012. The grand-prize winner of the competition will receive a $10,000 scholarship. First-, Second- and Third-prize winners will each receive a $2,500 scholarship, and ten Merit Winners will each receive $1,000 in scholarships.
Information, including complete rules and regulations will be available at facebook.com/daltile beginning September 1, 2012.
