For more than 25 years, the designers at Stone Forest have used nature’s materials to create sinks, tubs, consoles and garden fountains, which all reflect the best of nature’s offerings. For inspiration this year, the company has reached back to one of the earliest sinks ever discovered at the Akrotiri site on Santorini. Stone Forest introduces its homage to this era with the Akrotiri Vessel Sink — an irregularly shaped gray sandstone, crafted from a new material named Grigio Sandstone that Stone Forest developed this year. The vessel is 5 inches high, 22 ½ inches wide and 17 ¾ inches in diameter. The subtle veining in each piece is unique. The inspiration for the design came from one of the sinks unearthed at the Akrotiri site on Santorini, which was covered in ash by the volcano that generated the tsunami that destroyed the Minoan culture on Crete. With Akrotiri, Stone Forest continues its time-honored tradition of utilizing what has come before to create new products of equally lasting beauty.
