DEERFIELD BEACH, FL -- Mapei introduced three highly engineered self-leveling underlayments (SLUs) with unique installation characteristics at the The International Surface Event (TISE) West expo, held in Las Vegas this past January. High-flow Ultraplan® LSC, lightweight Ultraplan Lite and rapid-setting Ultraplan QuickTraffic each have formulations that set them apart from traditional SLUs.
"Mapei never stops listening to its customers, and these three new SLUs have been developed specifically to meet contractors' requirements," said Jeff Johnson, Business Manager for Mapei's Floor Covering Installation Systems. "We feel that Ultraplan LSC,Ultraplan Lite and Ultraplan QuickTraffic will enhance our surface prep product line and expand it in the right direction."
Ultraplan LSC is a high-flow, fast-setting, self-leveling liquid skimcoat. Its unique flow properties allow itto spread easily and quickly, potentially eliminating the need for hand-applied skimcoats. This product cures to a hard and flat surface that typically requires no further touchup or repair, accelerating floor-covering installation and reducing the need for additional patching or skimcoating materials.
UltraplanLite,a lightweight SLU,has been specifically designed for use in leveling substrates that are not rated to carry the full weight of a traditional SLU. Ultraplan Litemixes easily and flows out to a suitable finish, with a final dry density of about 67 lbs. per cu. ft. (1 073 kg per m3) at 28 days -- about 50% the density of traditional SLUs.
Ultraplan QuickTraffic is an extremely fast-setting SLUthat decreases time from surface prep to floor-covering installation. Easily mixed and poured, Ultraplan QuickTrafficis ready for all types of floor-covering installations in as soon as one to three hours after placement. The product has high compression strength, capable of withstanding heavy traffic and rolling loads. Its excellent flow properties produce a smooth, defect-free, hard surface.
All three of the new Ultraplan self-levelers are available at distributors now.
