The Lighthouse Interior competition attracted a total of 128 entries, submitted by over 400 designers from 38 different countries. From these entries Cerasarda, a brand of Gruppo Romani Industrie Ceramiche, has selected three award-winning projects, four gold mentions, ten honorary mentions and thirty finalist projects.
The aim of the competition was to use a collection of decorative furnishings and ceramic shapes, inspired by lighthouses and coastal towers, to create new elegant products for luxury accommodations. The competition was particularly looking for objects to be associated with tourism, made entirely or partially using ceramic materials, or ceramic wall and floor tiles. The winner of the competition will feature in the Cerasarda Atelier catalogue, the Group division devoted to furnishing accessories.
First place went to the Horizon project by Marta Koniczuk, winning the € 5,000 (approx. $ 5,889) prize and the opportunity to see the collection go into production. Koniczuk interpreted the idea of relaxation and the sea in a floating bathtub, washbasin, and lantern with a ceramic texture like crystallized salt, enclosed in the vertical shape of a fishing float.
Second place went to a series of ceramic lamps by Team Frost, composed of Andrea Maria Stefani and Erika Frosi, and third place was awarded to Monica Orsini with her collection of lamps inspired by marine sponges and coral.
All final rankings and finalist projects are posted on the Code portal which can be found here.
