The American Institute of Architects (AIA) hosted an event, "Embracing Our Differences, Changing the World," on Tuesday, Feb. 26 from 6:30 to 8 pm, at the District Architecture Center, 421 7th St., NW, Washington, DC that explored the imperative of expanding diversity in the architecture profession.
During the program, 2019 AIA President William Bates, FAIA, and the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) President Kimberly Dowdell, AIA, discussed the programs and initiatives their respective organizations are pursuing to make the architecture profession more diverse and welcoming. The panel also focused on why equity, diversity and inclusion strengthen chapters, firms and communities.
