Part of the architectural program at the CarraraMarmotec trade event in Carrara, Italy, a range of Angelo Mangiarotti’s stone furnishings and decorative works were on display for an international audience.
With an expanded program that connects the stone industry with sculpture and design, the biennial CarraraMarmotec exhibition took place from May 19 to 22 in the historic stoneworking center of Carrara, Italy.
The winners of the 25th edition of the international Marble Architectural Awards were presented at CarraraMarmotec in Italy, and they included a range of projects, including first prize for the Oslo Opera House in Norway, which utilized Carrara White marble.
As part of the Marmomacc trade fair in Verona, Italy, the “Marmomacc Meets Design” (MMD) initiative fosters collaboration between the stone industry and the design community.
As the leading international stone fair, Marmomacc will host the global stone industry when it takes place from September 29 to October 2 in Verona, Italy.

A decade ago, I traveled to the famed Giallo Veneziano
quarry in Brazil -- via helicopter -- and immediately counted it among the most
interesting places I visited while doing this job. To see an entire mountain of
granite being worked by nearly 100 people was a sight I will not forget.
