The Stone World staff would like to remember long-time editor Michael Reis, who passed away on February 7, 2014.

During the spring of 2009, master basalt carvers will gather in Central Washington State, known for its rich geological history, for an extensive workshop. The event will take place from May 1 to 4, 2009, surrounded by columnar basalt that was exposed by the historic Missoula floods.
