The Xiamen Stone Fair has been building momentum as a reputable international stone exhibition, and the 2018 edition is expected to be even bigger. Now in its 18th year, the next edition is slated for March 6 to 9, at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center.
As members of the stone industry, I think we can all agree there is nothing more appealing than the aesthetics and inherent qualities of natural stone. And while many stones come from abroad, we also have numerous quarries here in the U.S. that have supplied material for landmark projects.
Owner Steve Crandall has passed away, as well as John Zacher, who was with Unlimited Peak, the investment/management group who partnered with RealStone after Crandall’s death. But despite these tragedies, the company has managed to persevere and is optimistic about its future.

The large boisterous crowd that congregated outside the gates of Veronafiere on the opening morning of Marmomac was certainly an indicator to the success of the international stone exhibition, which is held annually at the fairgrounds in Verona, Italy.
As you will see, this issue of Stone World is a bit of a departure from our typical content. While we still include updates on various aspects of the natural stone industry, we have also devoted a portion of the magazine to quartz surfacing, which was a focus for this month.
