Artisan Group, an elite network of countertop fabrication professionals, announced its members are now manufacturing intubation shields to protect ER medical professionals from COVID-19 when they intubate a patient.
“The Lady with the Lamp,” better known as Florence Nightingale, founded modern nursing towards the end of the 19th century. Thanks to her strict use of hand-washing and hygiene practices while caring for wounded soldiers in the Crimean War, Nightingale and her helpers reduced the death rate from 42% to 2% -- ushering in nursing as we know it today.
Weaton’s team received engineering specifications for these face shields from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as well as from Johns Hopkins University.
