The 13th edition of “Designing with Natural Stone” will run from September 19 to 24, 2011 in Verona, Italy, in conjunction with Marmomacc, the world’s leading trade show for stone and design.
An American Institute of Architects continuing education event gives architects a first-hand look at the stone-production process -- from quarrying to fabrication to installation.
During Marmomacc, the most important stone show in the world, an equally important event took place. Leaders from many of the world’s stone associations, federations, and publications gathered to meet and discuss the development of a green certification standard for natural stone.
The “Marmomacc Meets Design” (MMD) project again generated some of the more innovative booth designs. MMD 2010 paired leading international designers with stone processors. The pairings focused on this year’s theme - “irregular and exceptional” - in developing everything from objects to entire booth designs.
The 45th edition of Marmomacc - held in Verona, Italy, from September 29 to October 2 - enjoyed significant increases in international exhibitors and visitors, helping to consolidate the show’s position as the most important annual global event for the stone industry.
This fall, I made my annual journey to Verona, Italy, to attend Marmomacc, the largest stone exhibition in the world. And as always, the show did not disappoint.
At a time when the international stone industry is
scrambling on a global level - where it seems that no port is safe from this
economic hailstorm - Italy
has managed to ride out the crisis by maintaining its position as an innovator
in all things stone.
As fall approaches, another trade show season is set to begin. A week from now, I will be in Verona, Italy, touring the expansive exhibit halls at Marmomacc -- the world's largest stone exhibition.
